Source Code Security Audit Methodology

Last updated: October 15, 2026

1. AI Reads the Code, an Expert Decides

DigVel's source code security audit combines AI-driven scanning with review by qualified security engineers. The input is a read-only repository; the output is a report of validated vulnerabilities. The three steps below fit into 1 working week and are covered by the fixed $3,200 price.

2. Step 1 - Decomposition

We study how the product is built before looking for flaws:

  • Architecture analysis and identification of modules and entry points.
  • A threat model describing who can attack the product, how, and what is at stake.
  • Testing goals that focus the next step on the code that matters most.

Result: a threat model and a map of the code.

3. Step 2 - AI Screening

Multi-round, methodical scanning of the codebase along different attack vectors, including business-logic flaws that signature-based scanners typically miss. AI scales across large repositories and surfaces many candidate issues quickly.

Result: a list of vulnerability candidates.

4. Step 3 - Expert Validation

A qualified security engineer analyzes every candidate, confirms or rejects it, rates its severity (including a CVSS score), and filters out false positives. AI proposes; the engineer decides. You receive a short list of real issues instead of scanner noise.

Result: a report with validated vulnerabilities. See the report structure.

5. Scope and Limits

The analysis is static and covers source code only:

  • Business logic and application architecture.
  • Authentication, sessions, and tokens.
  • Authorization and access control (including IDOR).
  • Injection and input handling.
  • Hardcoded secrets and keys.
  • Vulnerable dependencies and supply-chain paths.

The following are out of scope because they concern the live environment:

  • Cloud environment configuration (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Server operating-system settings and network firewalls.
  • Behavior of the running system in a real environment.

Because the audit is static, real user data, load, and availability of your live systems are never affected.

6. Optional Phase 2 - Exploit Verification

If your team is overloaded, we can manually reproduce the vulnerabilities found in the audit. You provide access to a test environment; our engineers reproduce the attacks along the identified vectors. We work only in the controlled environment you provide, only with your consent, and only for the agreed vulnerabilities. Pricing depends solely on the number of real vulnerabilities confirmed in the audit.

7. Confidentiality and Data Handling

  • NDA: signed before work begins.
  • Zero retention: code is provided only for the project and deleted together with the virtual machine used to analyze it.
  • No AI training: AI environments are tightly restricted, covering storage, access to session context, and material exchange. Your code is never used to train models.
  • Accreditation: DigVel is accredited under the Cyber Essentials scheme.
